In this politically charged country right now all we hear about is the blue wave or the red wave. Each political party attacking the other with ads, billboards and social media. The left screaming for change and more liberal freedoms while the right is screaming for more conservative thinking. I have an idea that can help to heal this country and the great divide we are currently in. Why don’t we have a Golden wave. You may ask, what is a golden wave? A golden wave is a movement to God. A movement towards healing the afflictions we have as a society such as alcohol, drugs, sexual addiction, pornography, violence, and other things that are destroying this country day by day.
Whether you vote Red or Blue is of no concern to me. Honestly, I think regardless of the outcome, all that will happen in DC is politicians and their contacts getting richer off of government contracts and kickbacks. While the regular working class folks face the burden of the taxes and regulations that will be put in place. The right and left will never agree as they are too far apart at this point in time. So, as I said lets have a Golden wave. And we can accomplish this by doing the following things in our own lives. You may not be a Christian, so take these learnings and apply them to your own faith, life and how you live. All would make the world a better place and none would impact an election that ultimately, will not help us either way.
- Faith in Jesus Christ – Trusting in Jesus as Savior and accepting His sacrifice. I hear people say all this is non sense. But what if it is not non sense, What if it is true? Give it a try and see how things in your life will change for the better. (John 14:6).
- Repentance and Turning from Sin – Acknowledging holiness and actively turning away from wrongdoing. Both sides have things they support that are tearing us down. You cannot be full of sin and out of sorts with God and gain repentance. (Acts 2:38).
- Fearing/Revering the Lord – Deep respect, awe, and living in accordance with God’s holiness. See what your values are and if they are wordly then you do not fear God. If you vote for something that you know deep inside is wrong then that fear will eventually catch up with you at the time of judgement. (Deuteronomy 10:12).
- Loving God Completely – Devoting heart, soul, mind, and strength to Him. This one is really hard. He loved us so much that he gave of himself in Jesus to show the ultimate gift and sacrifice. (Deuteronomy 10:12).
- Loving and Forgiving Others – Showing patience, kindness, and releasing bitterness toward others. This one is hard to do. We have all been hurt by others. We have scars to prove it. We have mental and physical trauma. However, we have to forgive ourselves and others before we can truly move on.
- Obeying God’s Commands – Keeping moral and spiritual statutes for one’s own well-being. The commandments handed to Moses and given to mankind to follow. They are not a set of things to consider doing. They are what God expects from us. (John 17:14–17).
- Worshiping in Spirit and Truth – Honoring God wholeheartedly rather than through empty ritual. We do not honor God by following satanic people. We do not follow God by admiring those that directly go against him. We honor him in worship and pray seeking his guidance, grace and mercy.
- Reading and Meditating on the Bible – Learning, knowing, and applying God’s ways. I am guilty of this one. I need to read the word more often. Getting into his word will give that guidance in times of need and allow us to follow the things he sets forth with us.
- Praying Unceasingly – Bringing requests, burdens, and daily dependence before God. I pray twice a day. I pray for my family, for my friends and the world. I pray for Gods grace, mercy, kindness and gifts to win over evil. Give it a try and make that daily connection with God.
- Caring for the Vulnerable – Looking after widows, orphans, and those in distress. We could do a much better job in this one. I see young people bad mouthing older people. I see older people bad mouthing the younger ones. I am guilty myself as a Gen X’r. I see the difference in today’s younger people and struggle at times with it. However, I am not living their life so I cannot say that they need to do this or that. They in turn should be the same way. This election could be a way to help those that really need it.
As for me and what I believe. I believe that our country needs to heal. I believe that our country needs more faith. I believe that we can find a common ground somewhere in the middle of the political spectrum. I believe that my personal values may not match up with others. I believe that evil is real and is ruining our society daily. I believe that mental illness, alcoholism, drug abuse, physical abuse, mental abuse, violence and a general lack of manners are stopping us from being the best we can be. Lastly, I believe that faith and the Golden light of heaven will oneday win out over all the plagues of the Earth.
