As we make our way to the polls today to decide the future of our country, children and children’s children. Please consider what Gods word says that could be applied to the voting process. We want to vote based on our own beliefs and emotions. God wants us to vote based on good moral responsibility and civic duty to all people.
In the book of Acts 5:29, Peter and the other apostles replied: “We must obey God rather than human beings”. Peter is telling us that we should do what is seen as right in God’s eyes and not of what man decides is right.
1st Peter 1:2, those who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to be obedient to Jesus Christ and sprinkled with his blood: Grace and peace be yours in abundance. God is telling us that we will be rewarded with his Holy spirit by following his commands and ways and not our own.
Deuteronomy 1:13, “Choose wise, understanding and respected men from each of your tribes, and I will set them over you.” God says that we need to choose wise people when it comes to allowing someone to be over us. This election is about putting the best candidates in place that are morally sound and not morally corrupt.
One of my favorites is this one. Proverbs 13:43, “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin condemns any people”. We are all sinners and have people that have decided in the millions to vote based on sin. We are currently a corrupted nation that follows the ways of evil by voting for people that support evil ideals and ways.
Proverbs 29:2, “When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice; when the wicked rule, the people groan”. We have been ruled by some wicked, cold hearted and callus individuals lately. Folks that did not have the best interest of their community, world and country at the center of their reign. We must turn to God and seek his guidance for this election and right the ship to see the light and not the darkness.
I pray that anyone that reads this votes their best and sleeps well with it tonight. I pray that be with you as you go about your days the next four years regardless of the outcome. For we are just one vote in a cesspool of hundreds of millions. But to vote with God is the ultimate example of having faith, loving your family and your world.
