The Importance of Voting in a Divided Nation

Daily writing prompt
Do you vote in political elections?

I vote in every election local, state and federal that I am able to do so. Voting is a way to express your God given rights as a citizen and honor a right that is given to you by the constitution. Voting is important in that it is your voice and if you do not vote, then complaining about the outcomes of who is in power, control or making the decisions locally, state and federal level are insane. I know a lot of people that complain about our leadership, but did not take part in the process.

Voting is a civil duty that we learn about in civics or history class in high school. It is like serving on jury duty, honoring local laws, paying taxes and being a good citizen. It is not required but I highly recommend it as a way to be active in government and politics. We currently live in a divided nation where two ideals are driving a wedge in the people. You have the liberal movement which includes focus on human rights, big government, different lifestyles, and opportunity to speak freely. The other side you have the conservatives which are more small government, sound managed fiscal spending, family and church oriented and about free speech.

Seeing the divide makes me react to this daily prompt and I am going to write about the things that we can all agree on, or what I think is common sense agreement. 1- Safety: I do not understand why both sides do not promote safe schools, borders, neighborhoods, cities and towns. 2- Freedom of Speech: It seems that either side does not want to hear what the other has to say if they disagree. I personally think the liberals are more apt to cancel or squash your speech if it is not in line with their thought process. 3- Sound Fiscal Money Management: Why would anyone that works and pays federal taxes want that money spent on senseless things that do not promote the total American way and overall are good for all Americans. We have a homeless epidemic, we have a drug epidemic, we have poverty ridden areas, we have natural disasters, we have military strength to fund, we have schools that are suffering and floundering, we have illegal immigration concerns, we have teacher shortages, we have people that cannot pay for their expenses and college loans.

Why not put our taxes that we elect representatives to use in good management towards things that help everyone and not just those that are the small minority in view. We need to come together, take out the swamp creatures we have elected and put in people that really care about us and our welfare and not getting rich. I vote based on my personal belief and for the values of the person I think will do the best job. I do not regret any vote I have ever placed and am still happy with my recent vote in 2024. If my person loses, then I get up, go to work, do what I can, adapt, adjust and get life done. When it comes back around I go vote again and see what happens.

So my advice is to go vote. Vote based on your beliefs and moral code. Vote for the best person for the job and not who tiktok, X, facebook or other social media giants tell you to vote for. Research, read, go online, seek advice and pray before voting. Place that ballet and see what happens.
