I have made a few large purchases of collectible sports and toy items that are pretty rare. Baseball, football and basketball cards. Hot wheels, GI Joes, Star Wars and other things of interest. I had stopped buying those things and suddenly found myself at 57 getting back into the collectibles market. I will be leaving all that stuff in boxes and for my grown kids and grandkids to shuffle through. I have things organized and labeled by value and the most expensive things are obviously in a safe or a safe deposit box at the bank.
I have two baseball cards valued in the tens of thousands not to be named for obvious reasons. I have two very rare hot wheels that are well into the thousands as well. I have some rare Michael Jordan items and some pricy tennis shoes that I collected through the years still in the box. I also collect coins, gold and silver. Collecting these things is fun and costly at times, but you have to manage the experience, the money and know that what you buy can return a profit at some point if you need it. Some things are just things but are special to me as it was part of my childhood experience.
